The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has offered its functional 50 bedded Guru Harkrishan Hosptial and 6 storey 500 bedded hospital to Delhi government to be used as isolation and treatment facility to treat COVID-19 patients.
In a letter written to Delhi CM Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, the DSGMC President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that as the Delhi Govt. is preparing and developing its infrastructure including hospitals to manage foreseen exponential rise in COVID suspect patients in Delhi and intends to convert hotels and banquet halls into health facilities for the purpose of isolation, treatment and quarantine of the COVID suspect and positive patients, the DSGMC offers its Guru Harkrishan Hospital, a 50 bedded multidisciplinary hospital with intensive care unit is also functional at Gurdwara Bala Sahib.
He said that this is a sacred place where Guru Harkrishan ji initiated the concept of quarantine to combat such pandemic and also Guru ji stayed in quarantine here. He said that this place divine power and blessings of Guru Sahibs.
He further said that apart from it 500 bedded six-storey building of Guru Harkrishan Institute of Medical Science and Research located in 11-acre compound of Gurdwara Bala Sahib in Sunlight Colony, New Delhi-14 is almost ready, beside some furnishing work.
He said that if Delhi government desire, a visit at site can be planned to explore the possibilities to complete it in expedited manner to use for this very purpose. He said that use of this proposed state of art health facility to fill the existing gap between the health resource available and required in the nation’s interest.
He said that spending huge funds in converting Hotels and banquet halls into health facility will be merely a short term gain with wastage of the resources that too during the pandemic whereas furnishing and using aforementioned 500 bedded hospital will certainly will be rational/justified investment which will last for ever and also in the interest of people of Delhi.
He said that when mankind is going through tough time we all need to work as a team to combat COVID disease and are glad to offer aforementioned infrastructure and Guru Harkrishan Hospital in the public interest until the pandemic is over.
He asked the CM to let the DSGMC know if any support it can extend for the government in this fight against Coronavirus which can be fought together and we are ready to extend cooperation to government on every front in this fight against COVID-19.
