The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has filed a criminal complaint against UP Police and Pilibhit Administration for incident of custodial torture, unnatural offences and insult to religion of a Sikh Ex Army officer.
Disclosing this in a statement issued here, the DSGMC President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that ex army officer Resham Singh was going to attend last rites of his brother in law from Pilibhit to Lakhimpur Kheri on May 3 along with his mother and two sisters. He said that Pilibhit Police stopped him at a check point and when he was taking out papers of his alto car, police official started abusing him.
In the meantime, on Ram Naresh Singh Thanedar of Kotwali came to the spot along with other police personnel and started beating Resham Singh mercilessly. Then he was taken to police station and was abused and uncalled brutal force was used against innocent Sikh. They also insulted beliefs of Sikh community and disrespected him and his religion.
The DSGMC President said that we have sent this complaint to UP CM, Union Home Secretary and DGP UP for immediate action against erring police personnel. He said that grave and inhuman torture of Sardar Resham Singh a retired army officer, alongwith his mother, and two sisters has shaken the very conscience of the society and the brutality inflicted upon the victim by police is beyond imagination. Videos of the torture and injuries inflicted on him were also attached with the criminal complaint.
Mr. Sirsa said that the DSGMC will not only ensure dismissal of guilty police officials involved in this incident occurred at Puranpur Kotwali Distt Pilibhit UP but will also ensure that they are punished for their sin and sent to jail.
