DSGMC files blasphemy case against Amazon for disrespecting Sri Darbar Sahib

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has filed a criminal complaint against the online major Amazon.com for blasphemy about Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Amirtsar Sahib and has demanded immediate arrest of persons responsible for the blasphemous act.

In case registered with Police Station,North Avenue, the DSGMC President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that Amazon (online shopping website) is selling toilet mats with the photo of Golden Temple (Sri Darbar Sahib, sacred Gurdwara of Sikhs) which has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He said that using picture of Golden Temple in marketer products especially for toilet mats is highly objectionable.

He said that this is not the first time when Amazon has marketed such blasphemous products using the picture of Golden Temple to hurt Sikh faith.

He said that it appears to be a deliberate attempt to hurt the sentiments of the Sikhs and the guilty should be tried under section 295-A and other relevant section of the IPS in court of Law. He also said that it needs to be investigated as to who is sponsoring such products on Amazon.

Mr. Sirsa said that the police should immediately arrest the persons responsible for running Amazon and owner of the manufacturing firms and seller of the product.

He said that such act will not be tolerated by the Sikh sangat residing worldwide. He said that it appears that such companies work under a deep rooted conspiracy against the Sikhs and their religious places and other things related with their religion.

The DSGMC President said that although the Sikh body has already launched campaign to make aware people worldwide about the Sikh religion and everything related with it, but still reoccurring of incidents like these create disturbance in the society particularly Sikh community. He also appealed to people to be cautious of malicious campaign against the Sikhs and also be aware while making, selling and posting these products on social media.
