Delhi Government Gurdwara Elections Directorate has issued notification for election of Gurdwara Ward no. 45- Khureji Khas which was countermanded due to death of a candidate of Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi, Sarna group.
While giving information on this issue, DSGMC Member Mr. Inder Mohan Singh said that as per notification, nominations can be filed upto 4th August 2021 before the designated Returning Officer Sh. Lokesh Parsad Sinha at his office located at I.T.I. for women, Vivek Vihar, Shahdara Delhi.
He said that the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on 5th August 2021 where candidates are given sufficient opportunity to see each other’s nominations and file their objections, if any, before the Returning Officer. However, any candidate can withdraw his candidature on or before 3 pm of 7th August 2021.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that election of this ward will be held simultaneously along with other wards whereas notifications for remaining 45 Gurdwara Wards are expected to be issued by 7th August 2021. He said that counting of votes and declaration of results of all the 46 Gurdwara Wards in Delhi will be on 25th August 2021.
While citing provisions of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act 1971 and relevant rules, Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the candidates already contesting election in this ward need not file fresh nominations, however any one of the present 7 candidates can withdraw his candidatures, if so desires.
He said that new candidates as well as the candidates who have already withdrawn their candidatures are not debarred from filing nominations in this ward. Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the Model Code of Conduct already enforced with effect from 31st March 2021 will continue till the entire election process is over on 31st August 2021.
