The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) elected members have unanimously decided to form their own religious party and work only for religious cause. This was stated by the DSGMC President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary S. Jagdeep Singh Kahlon.
Addressing a press conference here today, S. Kalka and S. Kahlon said that yesterday a meeting of elected members was held here in which unanimously decision was taken and it was decided that all elected members will work for religious cause only. S. Kalka said that as long as he was President of DSGMC, no one from his family will contest political elections. He said that if any member of family member of elected DSGMC members wants to contests political elections, they will have to contest such elections in their individual capacity and no one will contest political elections in name of this religious party.
They said that name of the new religious party will be decided after consulting representative of Singh Sabhas and other panthic bodies. They said that it has been decided that sangat has elected us as their religious representatives so, we will work only for religious field and take up issues related with religious field only.
Responding to queries of media, S. Kalka and S. Kahlon said that their religious party will have no alliance or adjustment with Manjit Singh GK and Parmjit Singh Sarna and his brother as they have political agendas. They said GK has looted golak of Guru Sahib whereas Sarnas are anti Panth and anti Akal Takht Sahib, so it is not possible to ally with them. They said that their religious party will work with full devotion towards Guru Sahib and sangat and GK and Sarna brothers have no such agenda towards sangat.
S. Kalka and S. Kahlon also urged members from other parties to join hands with them to serve sangat as they have full mandate of the sangat. They also said that though name of the organization will be finalized later but it will definitely have words Shiromani Akali Dal and it will work according to principles laid down for original Akali Dal by Master Tara Singh, Sant Fateh Singh and others and it will work under aegis of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and will serve panth in keeping with Sikh traditions and principles.
On the occasion other office bearers and members of the DSGMC were also present.
