Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka, today expressed deep anguish and outrage over the horrific and racially motivated rape of a Sikh woman in the United Kingdom.
In a strongly worded statement, S. Kalka said, “This barbaric act of violence is not only a crime against an innocent woman but also a grave assault on humanity and the values of equality, justice, and dignity. Such hate-driven atrocities have absolutely no place in any civilized society”.
Calling the incident “utterly heartbreaking and deeply disturbing,” S. Kalka urged the UK Government and law enforcement agencies to act with utmost urgency. He demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice without delay and pressed for stringent, concrete measures to safeguard the Sikh community and other vulnerable groups from such targeted attacks in the future.
“The Sikh community has always stood for peace, harmony, and service to humanity. It is the responsibility of governments across the world to ensure their safety and dignity. The UK authorities must ensure that this heinous crime does not go unpunished and that the Sikh community can live without fear,” he emphasized.
S. reiterated DSGMC’s solidarity with the victim and her family, assuring them of the Sikh community’s unwavering support during this painful time.
