Drive against drugs: Haryana Police seizes 749 kg ‘ganja patti’ worth Rs 2 crore

Under a special drive against narcotics smugglers, Haryana Police has seized 749 kg and 800 gram of ganja patti worth Rs two crores from a truck in Palwal district. Police has also arrested three people for supplying the contraband.

Sharing the information here today, the Haryana Police spokesperson informed that the contraband was being illegally transported in a truck from Odisha hidden in between the bags of cottonseed.

A police team after getting secret input about the smuggling of narcotics in a truck bearing a Rajasthan registration number had intercepted the vehicle at a naka on National Highway 9. The search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 24 plastic bags containing the contraband weighing 749 kg and 800 grams. The ganja patti was found hidden in between bags of cottonseed.

A preliminary probe reveals that seized contraband was sourced from Vijaynagar, Odisha.

The arrested accused were identified as Rafeeq and Saddam, both residents of village Jhaanda and Firoz Alam, a native of Bihar.

A case under the provisions of the NDPS Act was registered and a probe into the matter is on to nab others involved in this racket of drug smuggling.
