Dr Sushmindarjeet Kaur’s book ‘Voices From Within’ released

Adding one more feather to its cap, the Post Graduate department of English, Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana hosted a book release event today . The book entitled ‘Voices from Within’ has been written by Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur, Associate Professor and Head of the department which is a precious academic pearl to the academic chain of her achievements. This book is a dedication to her learned, visionary and a great academecian father, Dr. Pritpal Singh, who left for his heavenly abode a few months ago.

Dr. S. P. Singh, former Vice-Chancellor, Guru nanak Dev University, Amritsar and worthy President of Gujranwala Khalsa Education Council, Ludhiana, acknowledged the relentless endeavours of Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur, congratulated her on the release of her maiden book and also wished her luck for the upcoming ones.

Dr. Hargunjot Kaur, delineated on the theme of her book said that her poetry is like a mirror, a glimpse of a higher world which takes the reader to a voyage within. She mentioned that her poems are replete with allusions which help to feel the essence of her poetry.

Dr. Sumedha Bhandari, the learned and scholarly alumnus of the college, currently working as an Assistant Professor at PAU, Ludhiana, said that poetry, according to her, is connecting, reflecting and reconnecting. She exclaimed that while reading the book she could be one with the book as she read each poem it took her to the childhood and then to the mystic world. The book is replete with various images, symbols and metaphors which help to highlight the preaching of Gurbani as well and making the reader one with that Almighty.

Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill former student of the college, while talking about the book took pride in saying that the faculty of the college has started following the path paved by him and other scholarly alumni of the college. Expressing his heartfelt feelings he said that her forty six poems are like forty six windows which provide a fresh, chaste and pious wave that touches the reader from within.

Dr. Arvinder Singh, college Principal, applauded the efforts of the poet as it was her maiden attempt to write an Anthology of poems. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the guests and speakers for sparing time during this pandemic.

He further added that it is a bliss to have such a faculty member in the college who not only possesses a creative mind herself but also motivates others to be creative and write for themselves. He said that Dr. Sushmindarjeet Kaur is an inspiration to the young minds as well as the fellow colleagues.

The event was moderated by Dr. Mandeep Kaur, an afficient and competent teacher. It was witnessed by Dr. Gunmeet Kaur, Principal, Gujranwala Public School, and also by all the worthy faculty members of the college.
