Former Punjab Deputy Speaker and SAD Taksali candidate from Anandpur Sahib, Bir Devinder Singh today said that the suspension of Dr. Harshinder Kaur smacks of political vendetta.
In a press release issued here today, Bir Devinder Singh said it was shocking to learn that Dr. Harshinder Kaur Asstt. Professor in the department of pediatrics, Rajindra Hospital, Patiala has been placed under suspension on frivolous grounds by the Department of Medical Education and Research, Government of Punjab.
Singh said, “I wonder how the department has taken such a harsh action, by rushing through indecent haste, against an outstanding Doctor, who has done remarkable work to awaken the people against female feticide. Her work has also been duly acknowledged by the State Government by awarding her State award twice.”
Besides this, Dr. Harshinder Kaur was also honored by the President of India, being one of the hundred women achievers of India, in recognition to her services to save the female foetus, he said.
Singh alleged that there seems to be a deep rooted conspiracy to demoralize Dr. Harshinder Kaur.
“The state Government’s decision to place her under suspension, smacks of political vendetta. I have learnt from reliable source that being a Government servant, Dr. Harshinder Kaur has refused to work for the Chief Minister’s wife Mrs. Parneet Kaur in the elections who happened to be the Congress Candidate from Patiala Parliamentary constituency,” he said.
Bir Devinder Singh urged Mr. Brahm Mohindra, Minister for Health & Medical Education to go to the bottom of the case and personally look in to the frivolous charges.
“Meanwhile the suspension of Dr. Harshinder Kaur must be revoked forthwith pending inquiry in to the matter of disputed versions,” he said.
