Don’t spoil hard work of healthcare & frontline warriors by flouting norms: Ludhiana DC Varinder Sharma

Terming that the Covid situation has turned grim and health infrastructure is hugely severely strained in Ludhiana, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma urged the people to don’t spoil the hard work of thousands of healthcare/frontline workers, working tirelessly to contain the pathogen by venturing out unnecessarily.

Interacting with people of Ludhiana on the Facebook official page of DPRO, Ludhiana, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said at presently 1913 beds including 526 level-III and 1387 level-II are filled in the hospitals and administration is going to start 100-beds in CHC Jawaddi and Government Meritorious School soon.

He said that the administration is also planning to set up beds in hostels of Punjab Agriculture University if this trend remains the same in the coming days.

He said that it is really sad some people are still not observing Covid appropriate behaviour properly which leading to the transmission of the virus freely.

Deputy Commissioner also cleared about essential/non/essential category shops amidst the confusion among the people about the recent directions of Punjab Government.

He said that those dealing in medicines and essential items like milk, bread, vegetables, fruits, dairy, poultry products like eggs, meat, Grocery/Kirayana, PDS shops, fertilizers/agriculture machinery/products, retail/wholesale liquor vends, shops selling hardware, industrial material, tools/motor pipes, etc.

He said that as per fresh orders of the Punjab government, these shops are permitted to operate till 5 pm except during the weekend curfew (from 6 pm on Friday to 5 am on Monday).

Sharma that these restrictions have been imposed to curb the virulent spread of the deadliest coronavirus and people must stay indoors until any kind of urgency.

Answering questions regarding the vaccination for bank staff, traders and others by considering them frontline workers, he told that the administration had earlier allowed them when the vaccine camps were held but their response was lukewarm and they have to wait.
