The Shiromani Akali today took strong notice of statement of Finance Minister Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal and said that after backstabbing farmers he should not claim himself to be pro farmers.
In a statement issued here today, the SAD Treasurer and Spokesman Mr. NK Sharma said that it is surprising to see that after attending a meeting of High Powered Committee constituted by Niti Aayog on behalf of Chief Minister in Mumabi and supporting enacting of ordinances now Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal is posing himself as pro farmer.
Mr Sharma said that after supporting anti farmer decision of the committee meeting by Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal, the Punjab Government gave a written consent for the same and also suggested some other measures.
He said that after remaining silent for several months on the issue, now Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal has come out to give his side of story as videos of him attending meeting have gone viral.
The SAD leader said that such ordinances were coming this was now to CM Capt. Amarinder Singh on as early as September 10, 2019 when the then Agriculture Secretary Kahan Singh Pannu has written to him.
He said that Pannu had attended a meeting at Niti Aayog on Septmber 9,2019 in which it was briefed that such ordinances were coming. He wrote to CM next day stating what was in offing. He said that after knowing such important development the CM kept mum for more than 7 months.
Mr. Sharma said that had earlier CM or Manpreet Singh Badal disclosed about the same, the SAD would have opposed enacting such ordinances along with other like minded parties.
He said that CM Capt. Amarinder Singh and Manpreet Singh Badal are personally responsible for framing of such ordinances. They have backstabbed farmers but now were trying to project themselves as pro farmers.
Mr. NK Sharma thanked the Congress Government for accepting suggestion of the SAD President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal on declaring whole Punjab and ‘Principal Market Yard.’ He said that Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal had yesterday suggested the Congress Government to declare Punjab ‘Principal Market Yard’ as only this could save Punjab from implementation of new proposal of the Centre Government and save the farmers. He said that Mr. Manpreet Singh Badal has today admitted that the state government was considering the issue.
