Divisional Commissioner Chander Gaind reviews COVID cases in Sangrur, directs to increase indoor patient facilities

Divisional Commissioner, Patiala Mr. Chandra Gaind today, while reviewing the COVID cases of Sangrur district, directed to increase the capacity of indoor patient facilities for the treatment of COVID victims in the district. He also directed to increase the sampling for the early detection of COVID patients in the district.

As part of a series of review meetings initiated to review the status of COVID-19 in all the districts of Patiala division, Mr. Gaind held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Sangrur Mr. Ramvir, ADC (G) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and health officials, Mr. Gaind also directed to intensify the vaccination campaign against coronavirus in the district.

The Divisional Commissioner said that in view of the current wave of COVID, there was a dearth of doctors and health personnel in the entire country and final year nursing students should also be trained to avail their services.

Instructing the Deputy Commissioner to monitor the availability of oxygen for critically ill patients, Mr. Gaind said that today’s situation has also made us aware of the importance of trees and plantation of saplings must be ensured while giving new arms license or while renewing an old one.

Disclosing this here today DC Mr. Ramvir said that there were 128 Level-2 beds available in government hospitals in district Sangrur out of which only 39 were occupied while 28 beds were also available in private hospitals and 18 were occupied. Following this, Mr. Gaind directed the DC to increase indoor patient facilities in the district.

Mr. Ramvir further said that so far a total of 86,410 people in the district have been vaccinated against COVID and 6,809 people have been administered with both doses. Noting the sluggish vaccination, Mr. Chandra Gaind directed that immunization should be taken seriously and vaccination should be expedited.

Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagmohan Singh said that 3 lakh 25 thousand 956 samples have been taken in Sangrur district, out of which 7739 positive cases were detected with a positive rate of 2.3 percent. He added that there were 1173 active cases at present and 293 deaths have been reported in the district. On this occasion Deputy Medical Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Kaur was also present.

Mr. Chandra Gaind also appealed to the residents of Sangrur district to extend their full cooperation for the success of Mission Fateh initiated by the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh against COVID-19 by taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Corona virus.
