Display of ‘Best Before Date’ in case of loose Sweets compulsory

Food Wing Kapurthala today inspected Food Business Operators including sweet shops, restaurants etc.

Assistant commissioner, Harjot said that Early morning, checking drive done today to curb adulteration in the Milk & Milk products.

Team intercepted vehicles carrying milk by setting up Naka. It has been observed that some of the sweet shop owners are not displaying the “Best Before Date”.

Sweet shop owners are strictly directed to follow directions of FSSAI regarding display of “Best Before Date” in case of loose sweets. It is mandatory to display “Best Before Date” on the container tray being displayed to the customer. If the food business operator is willing, he can display date of manufacturing also.

Today 15 samples have been taken including Milk 2, Desi Ghee, Mustard Oil, Vanaspati, Cane Sugar, Rajmah, Chana Dal, Rice Grain, Fat Spread, Dal Prepared, Rusk, Biscuits, Namkeen etc. These samples seized today have been sent to State Food Laboratory Kharar, Mohali for analysis & report and as per report of the analysis, legal action will be initiated against the violators.

Assistant Commissioner Food, Kapurthala seeks cooperation from all the Food Business Operators, so that safe, pure and healthy food stuffs are made available to general public.
