Directors making films on Prakash Purb honoured with Rs. 5 lakh on eve of Dera Baba Nanak Utsav

“The society has witnessed decline owing to its deviation from the principles of ‘Kirt Karo, Naam Japo, Wand Chhako’. For the creation of a healthy society, it is necessary that awareness about ‘Gurbani’ be spread and the principles in Gurbani as laid down by Guru Sahiban be followed in life.”

Keeping in view this aspect, Dera Baba Nanak Utsav is being organized on the eve of the opening of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and the 550th Prakash Purb of Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

These views were expressed here today by the Cooperation and Jails Minister S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa in seminar held at the Balihari Kudrat Vaseya pandal. The minister also honoured the Directors of the 5 short films screened during the film festival held on the occasion, with prizes worth Rs. 5 lakh, A shawl and a momento.

It is worth mentioning that as part of the film festival, short film competitions were held. A total of 28 films entered out of which five were selected which were shown during the festival and which received thunderous applause from the audience.

The Director of 1st position winning film ‘Langhaa’, Harjit Singh was honoured with Rs. 1,51,000 prize money, Director of second position winner film ‘Gurpurab’ Sahib Singh was honoured Rs. 1,31,000, Director of 3rd position winning film ‘Kafir’ Varinder Pal Singh was honoured with Rs. 1,21,000, Director of 4th position winner film ‘Ek Onkar’ Sukhjit Sharma was felicitated with Rs. 51000 and Director of 5th position winning film ‘Chanan’ Satnam Singh was felicitated with Rs. 31000.

Among other dignitaries present on the occasion included Registrar Cooperative Societies Vikas Garg, MD Markfed Varun Roojam, MD Sugarfed Puneet Goyal, MD Punjab State Cooperative Bank Dr. S. K. Batish, Coordinator of the Dera Baba Nanak Utsav Amarjit Grewal, Manmohan Singh, Dr. Boota Singh Brar, Dr. Joga Singh, Dr. Muhammad Ikdish, Dr. Nachhattar Singh, Dr. Charanjit Kaur, Dr. Rajinder Pal Brar, Dr. Swaran Singh, Dr. Vivek Sachdeva, Dr. Swaraj Singh, and Dr. Rajinder Singh.
