Former Chairman of the Improvement Trust and senior Congress leader Dinesh Bassi organized the “Shaan of Dastar” ceremony at Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Hall in East Mohan Nagar. On this occasion, turban competitions were held, in which over 100 children enthusiastically participated.
The turban competitions were held in two categories. Children between the ages of 10 and 13 participated in the first competition, while children between the ages of 13 and 16 participated in the second. The first, second, and third place winners received cash prizes of ₹5,100, ₹3,100, and ₹2,100, respectively. Each participating child received a certificate and a medal.
Speaking on the occasion, Dinesh Bassi, former chairman of the Improvement Trust and senior Congress leader, said that the sacrifices made by the four Sahibzadas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji cannot be forgotten, nor should future generations be deprived of them. At an age when children begin to understand the world, the four Sahibzadas sacrificed their lives to protect the religion.
He said that today, through this small effort, we are all remembering Guru Sahib’s Sahibzadas and giving the new generation the message to always maintain the dignity of the turban. It is through this turban that society will overcome evil and follow the teachings of the Guru Sahibs.
Dinesh Bassi also thanked the officials of Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Hall, who, in recognition of this effort, returned the hall fees paid by him. He said that such efforts are extremely important in today’s times.
On this occasion, former MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma was the chief guest along with senior Congress leader Aagu Manohar Singh Bhullar, Manjit Singh President Ramgarhia Bhaibandi Hall, Sukhwinder Singh (General Secretary), Amardeep Singh Rajewal (General Secretary), Lakhwinder Singh Khokhar (former President), Palwinder Singh Virdi, Iqbal Singh Sari, Mandeep Bhullar, Pawan Kumar Rakhra, Jaswant Singh, Jarnail Singh, Harjinder Singh Jodia, Simranjit Singh Rajput, Bawa Chahal, Jaspal Singh Kanda, Iqbal Singh H.K., Bittu Indra, Jaspal Singh, Councilor Rajiv Chhabra, Rajbir Singh, Iqbal Singh Majithia, Mukhtaj Singh Verka, Gurvinder Singh, and many other dignitaries were present. Gurpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh and Simarpal Singh played the role of judges in the program.
