Desecration of Guru Granth Sahib in Cuttack – DSGMC to send delegation to Odisha: Sirsa

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said that the DSGMC will send a high level delegation to Cuttack in Orissa to get case registered against guilty of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib and will ensure that they are given exemplary punishment.

In a statement released here today, Mr. Sirsa said that it is shocking that one Mahant Sarbeswar Dass hatched conspiracy for theft and desecration of Guru Granth Sahib and he paid Rs. One Lakh to accused Agrasen Soren s/o Karan Soren r/o Village Baripada. He said that he was also shown a video made from the venue and was guided how to enter Gurudwara Singh Sabha and take away Guru Granth Sahib.

He said that the Sangat is thankful to almighty that alert Granth Singh of the Gurudwara Sahib caught the man on the spot and he confessed to the crime and told the whole conspiracy hatched by Mahant Sarbeswar Dass.

Mr. Sirsa said that incident points towards a deep rooted conspiracy against the Sikhs. He said that he has talked to Commissioner of Police of the area and Nachattar Singh local President. He said that a delegation of the DSGMC will leave soon for Cuttack and meet representatives of Singh Sabhas and will ensure that case is registered against the guilty and they are given exemplary punishment for this dastardly act.

He said that what was conspiracy behind the incident, why this was done and how many such cases of desecration have taken place in the past needs to be ascertained. He said that we will ensure that the guilty are punished for life term as per law enacted in Punjab assembly. He said that DSGMC will extend every help needed to the Sikh community in Cuttack and take every step needed for them.
