Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik was busy at other events during Jamia violence

New Delhi, Dec 16, 2019-

When the violence near the Jamia Nagar area and New Friends Colony was at its peak, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik along with his subordinates was busy posing for the shutterbugs.

The claims are not baseless and the pictures released by the Commissionerate confirm this.

On Sunday, when the protest by the Jamia Millia Islamia students turned violent and reports of clashes between the police and students were doing the rounds in the media, the Delhi Police Commissioner was busy inaugurating a Civic Amenities Centre in the DDA Market in Sector 10, Dwarka and flagging off Community Policing Vehicles at the National Law University in Sector 14, Dwarka. Joint Commissioner of Police (Western Range) Shalini Singh was also seen with him.

Before attending the programmes in Dwarka, Patnaik along with Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) Devesh Chandra Srivastava was attending a programme on ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’ at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and posing with Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Anil Baijal.

The public relations cell of the Commissionerate had already made preparations for the programmes in Sector 10 and Sector 14 in Dwarka. The invites for the programmes were already shared with the media and messages on the social media were also shared.

The Police Commissioner continued with his programmes and ignored one of the biggest violent incidents in Delhi, which left 39 people including several policemen injured. Some of them are still in a critical condition. The violence also led to destruction of government property and the burning of cars and other vehicles.  (Agency)
