Partap Singh Bajwa, MP, Rajya Sabha raised a matter of urgent public importance in the House, bringing to the notice of the Finance Minister how delayed GST compensation is harming the state of Punjab.
Mr. Bajwa raised the statement made by the Finance Minister of Punjab (Manpreet Singh Badal), which describes the sacrifice made by the Government of Punjab to accept the GST regime, as it was a matter of national importance, and in return the Central Government promised to compensate the States for five years.
Given that the compensation claims for August and September which is about 2,100 crores has still not been released to the State, Mr. Bajwa brought to the notice of the House, how this will affect the payments of salaries to State Employees and other essential utilities to keep the machinery running.
He also urged that the compensation be released at the earliest.
