Declare PRTC driver a Corona ‘Martyr’: Bhagwant Mann to Punjab Govt.

Chandigarh, April 29, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state President and parliamentarian Bhagwant Mann has demanded that the government in the saddle should declare PRTC driver Manjeet Singh a corona ‘martyr’ and to immediately release financial aid of Rs 50 lakh to the bereaved family, saying the brave heart died en route while ferrying the pilgrims stranded at Sri Hazur Sahib amid corona virus by a PRTC bus.

The AAP MP accused the Capt Amarinder Singh government on backtracking on the grant of Rs 50 lakh financial cover to corona warriors within 10 days, threatening that if the government failed to provide the amount of Rs 50 lakh to the family of the diseased within 48 hours, the Aam Aadmi Party would be left with no choice but to protest on May Day (May 1) by sitting at homes.

Mann through a video conference said that he had been personally making appeals to Chief Minister’s office and that of the Chief Secretary of Punjab’s for the last 2 days saying that the financial aid of Rs. 10 lakh announced by the government for the family of Manjit Singh would be an injustice not only to the victim’s family but also to other corona warriors fighting from the front row.

The AAP leader also demanded that farmers, laborers, ‘arhtiyas’ and those engaged in social service in these hard times, including journalists, be brought under special insurance cover.

Replying to a media question, Mann said that if the government did not announce a financial aid of Rs 50 lakh to Manjeet Singh’s family by May 1, all party MLAs, leaders and workers, supporters, including himself would be left to hold protest staying put at their homes wearing black bands.
