DD’s ‘Samarpan’ to showcase RSS work, achievements

New Delhi, Nov 14, 2019-

National broadcaster Doordarshan has decided to start a programme on DD National showcasing the work and achievements of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and organisations affiliated to it. The channel has designed a weekly programme called ‘Samarpan’ to telecast the work of the RSS.

Samarpan, will show how the RSS and its affiliates have been engaged in social work, which brought a change in the lives of the underprivileged in many areas across the country.

The RSS has over 1.5 lakh branches all over India. Their work will now be brought directly to people’s homes on a weekly basis. The RSS believes that by doing so, people will get inspired to do more social service.

Rishipal Dadwal, the convener of ‘Samarpan’ told, “It has 52 episodes, which will be telecast from November 17 on DD National at 10 a.m. There is one episode on the work done by the RSS in Odisha and Kerala during natural calamities there. The changes brought in the lives of the lepers in Chhattisgarh by the RSS workers will also be showcased in one of the episodes.”

Dadwal added: “Our objective is to motivate people to the cause of social service by showing the good effects of the work done by the RSS in Northeast and Korba, Chhattisgarh.”

Senior RSS functionary Bhaiyyaji Joshi had submitted a report to the All India Executive Committee at Bhubaneswar in October in which he had said that the RSS is running 50-150 bed hospitals at 20 different locations and 15 blood banks.

He said it is due to the efforts by the Swayamsevaks that 3,000 to 4,000 eye donations take place every year. The RSS is also working in the rural areas, bringing change into the lives of the people, he added.

“We set up the development models in more than 250 villages with the help of the locals, worked in the fields of education, health, agriculture and other areas,” Joshi had said.

The RSS has been publishing its work in magazines and its mouthpieces so far, but now this is the first time that the national broadcaster will showcase its work in its programmes.  (Agency)
