Dashmesh Sewa Society demands inclusion of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Delhi Gurdwara Act

Dashmesh Sewa Society (Regd) demanded immediate inclusion of Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib as 5th Takhat in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1971.

In an emergent meeting convened recently by the Society at Press Club of India, New Delhi, the President of Society and former member of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the approval to include this Takhat in the Delhi Gurdwara Act has already been accorded in Delhi Vidhan Sabha long ago and a bill in this regard duly consented by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi was sent to the Central Government for mandatory approval which is pending for a considerable long time.

He said that Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib was inducted by the Govt. of India in the Punjab Gurdwaras Act 1925 in April 1999 but this Takhat was kept out of Delhi Gurdwaras Act for the last 23 years.

Mr Kulwinder Singh, General Secretary of Society said that Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib is also known as ‘Guru Ki Kashi’ where 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh ji completed ‘Guru Granth Sahib ji’ by adding rhymes of 9th Guru Teg Bahadur ji in the ‘Adi Granth’ written by the 5th Guru Arjun Dev ji.

Vice-President of Dashmesh Sewa Society Mr Kirandeep Singh said that it was decided in this meeting to approach the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narender Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Lt. Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with a strong appeal to immediately induct Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1971.

Mr Varinder Singh Nagi, Secretary of the Society said that after induction of this Takhat, the number of Co-opted members to the DSGMC will increase from 9 to 10 and simultaneously the General House will consist of 56 members instead of present 55 members.

Mr Manjit Singh, Treasurer of Society said that Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Sri Amritsar, Takhat Sri Keshgarh Sahib Sri Anandpur Sahib, Takhat Sri Patna Sahib and Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib Nanded are already included in the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1971. Apart from others, Executive Members of Dashmesh Sewa Soceity Mr Inderjit Singh Chawla and Dr Vani Singh were also present in this meeting.
