Noted politician and former bureaucrat Darbara Singh Guru today rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in the presence of party president Sukhbir Singh Badal here.
The SAD president visited the residence of Mr Darbara Singh Guru at Mullanpur near here during the course of which he welcomed the former member secretary of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Fourth Centenary Memorial Trust back into the party fold.
Giving a clarion call to save Punjab, Mr Sukhbir Badal said “during the last six years Punjab has gone back by decades. The situation is such that Haryana’s GST collection has outstripped Punjab by four times”. He urged the party cadre to unite as one to oust the corrupt AAP regime and bring back the era of peace, progress and development back to Punjab.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Darbara Guru expressed his happiness at returning back into the SAD, saying if he had any identity today it was because he had served as principal secretary to former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. He said he would work sincerely for the party’s ‘chardi kala’ in keeping with Akali principles and ideology.
Senior leaders Balwinder Singh Bhundur, Surjit Singh Rakhra, Jagdeep Singh Cheema and Gurpreet Singh Rajukhanna were also present on the occasion.
