Congress to give equitable representation to all communities in Nagar Panchayats, Councils & Corporations: Jakhar

The first meeting of the high-powered committee appointed after the local bodies polls by Congress to finalise office bearers for those was held here today under the chairmanship of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Sunil Jakhar.

Constituted on the directions of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh under the chairmanship of state party chief Sunil Jakhar, the committee includes Cabinet Minister Brahm Mohindra, Smt. Aruna Choudhary, Sh. Bharat Bhushan Ashu, MLA Raj Kumar Chabbewal, Political Secretary to CM Captain Sandeep Sandhu, besides Punjab Youth Congress president Brinder Singh Dhillon as members.

Disclosing this, PPCC Chief Jakhar said that people of Punjab have reposed their faith in the visionary stewardship of Captain Amarinder Singh by voting in favour of party in huge numbers. The win is a reflection of people’s faith, Jakhar said adding it has put on added responsibility on the party to keep working hard.

Jakhar said party would give due representation to all sections of society SC/BC, women and youngsters and party’s long time workers while choosing the officerbearers for the local bodies to fulfil its aim of ensuring better administration in cities.

The Committee would take into consideration all facets before choosing the right candidates for office, Jakhar said adding so that party’s support base in the state could be further strengthened with the overall aim of sprucing up delivery of services to citizens across the state.
