Preneet Kaur, the Patiala MP and wife of former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has been served a show cause notice by Congress party.
Capt Amarinder who after resigning from the Congress has formed his new party ‘Punjab Lok Congress’ has been off late getting vocal support from his wife. Earlier, Preneet Kaur had said that he would stand with the Congress but now she has been attending meetings of Amarinder supporters.
She had also said that she has always stood by Captain Amarinder and she will be siding with him.
Taking note of these developments, a notice has been issued by the party under the signatures of Harish Chaudhary, Incharge of Punjab & Chandigarh Affairs.
The notice says, “From the last many days, we are continuously receiving reports from Congress workers, MLAs, leaders from Patiala and the media about your anti-party activities. This information and news has been coming ever since your husband Captain Amarinder Singh Ji resigned from the party and floated his own party Punjab Lok Congress. We are also made aware of your open announcements in the media about siding with your husband’s party. Kindly explain your stand on this issue within a period of seven days otherwise the party will be forced to take necessary disciplinary action.
However, it remains to be seen as to whether Preneet Kaur herself resigns from the party to join her husband’s party or the party takes an action against the Patiala MP.
