Congress MLA Angad Singh announces to give up his salary for rest of tenure

Expressing solidarity with the people of Punjab and Government of Punjab, MLA from Nawanshahr Assembly Constituency, Angad Singh, here today announced to give up his rest of the tenure’s salary for use for the betterment of the people of state facing problems due to COVID-19 pandemic.

In his emotional words addressed to the Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Rana K P Singh, the young MLA from Nawanshahr said that when all the nations are in the grip of this pandemic disease and each nation was trying its best to save its citizens from the clutches of COVID-19, during such times he also wanted to contribute, though a little, to the efforts being made by our chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh in our state by foregoing his salary for the rest of his tenure as MLA for the welfare of people of Punjab .

Applauding the strategy devised by the Punjab Chief Minister and Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha for safe return of migrants to their parent states and Punjabis stuck in other states, to Punjab, he said that the coordination committees set up by the Speaker Rana K P Singh of MLAs in this regard had proved quite fruitful.

Expressing grave concern over the set back to the economy of all the sections of Punjab, be it the framers, labourers, traders, small and medium entrepreneurs, he said that when the people who sent them to the legislative assembly for safeguarding their interests, were facing financial problems due to COVID-19, his conscience did not allow him to continue getting salary from the taxpayers’ money. “ I give up my rest of the tenure’s salary to the state to use it for the welfare of the people”, said Angad Singh.

MLA Nawanshahr also appealed to the state for preparing a strategy for the temporary/contractual frontline warriors to convert their posts to regular ones. He also demanded a special session of the Vidhan Sabha to appreciate their services to keep their morale high.
