Congress Ministers slam Sukhbir Badal for his anti-Punjab, anti-farmers’ stand

Chandigarh, June 17, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Lashing out at Akalis for supporting anti-Punjab, anti-farmers and anti Sikhs decisions being consistently taken by the BJP led Centre Government, Senior Congress Leaders and Cabinet Ministers said that Akalis were equally responsible in throttling the federal structure by the BJP.

Issuing a joint statement here, the Cabinet Ministers Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, Sukhbinder Singh Sukh Sarkaria and Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the recent three ordinances issued by the Centre were completely against the farmers, which would badly hit the agrarian state of Punjab.

They said that by supporting these ordinances, Sukhbir Badal had proved that they pawned their ideology before the BJP for saving the Chair of Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Cabinet of Modi government.

Describing the present Akali leadership as indecisive, coward and inefficient, they said that instead of opposing any anti-Punjab, anti-Farmers and anti-Sikhs decision, Akalis were preferring to keep mum against such decisions of Centre.

They asked Sukhbir Badal that being the president of Akali Dal how was he supporting ordinances against the farmers of Punjab since the Akali Dal and Badal Family alway scored their political goals demanding more rights to the states by pretending sympathisers of farmers.

The Ministers also pointed out that with the induction of Harsimrat Kaur Badal in Union Cabinet since last six years, the Akali Dal had surrendered itself before BJP the formation of Modi led Government in centre.

They categorically said that this was not the first instance when Akalis supported BJP’s anti-Punjab decision as they had voted in favour of BJP at the time the Union Government brought the anti-minorities CAA besides in case of GST on Langar at religious places including Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. Apart from these, the Akalis remained mum against the statements of BJP leaders in the issue of abolishing MSP.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and PPCC President Sunil Jakhar strongly opposes the anti-states and anti-farmers ordinances, said the Ministers. While the President of Akali Dal, which represents Sikhs, did not speak over the reports of destruction of Sikhs in Uttar Pradesh by the BJP Government.

They said that Akali Dal was also remained a mute spectator at the time of anti-Punjab farmers decisions taken by the Gujarat Government.

They said that Punjabis had no grudge against BJP as it was directly a anti-minorities party but the question was why the Akalis not opposed the anti-minorities and anti-punjab decisions, for which they would have to face consequences in future.

They demanded that Sukhbir Badal should tender apology before Punjabis for his stand in favour of anti farmers ordinances. They also lashed out at Harsimrat Kaur Badal for her unwarranted criticism of State Government during COVID-19 instead of bringing central help for state.

They reminded Akalis that during the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister whenever the then Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal went to Delhi to meet the PM, he always came back with project or funds for development.

They asked that despite getting grants and projects from Centre, the Badals were criticising the UPA Government but now why the Badals are silent against the discrimination being meted out by the NDA Government with Punjab ?
