Transport Minsiter Punjab, Mrs. Razia Sultana hosited the National Flag at ITI Ground Nawanshar to mark the 71st Republic Day at Shaheded Bhagat Singh Nagar. She said that our country has the distinct identity due to its strong democratic traditions and its our prime duty to uphold the country’s secular and democratic credentials.
Recalling the great sacrifices for attaining the independence, she said that residents of the country made it possible by rising above the parochial considerations of caste, religion and creed. Now, it’s a great challenge in front of us to preserve the secular and democratic identity by protecting the basic instinct of our constitution.
As the Congress ruled most of the post independence era, so Congress and Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government is committed to safeguard the basic spirit of our constitution, she added. Expressing concern over the attempt to undermine the image of country’s first prime minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Father of the Nation, Mahatama Gandhi, she said that the people of the country would remain firmly rooted in the principle of unity in diversity.
She said the constitution framed by Dr. B R Ambedkar is capable of leading the country to face the challenges. Paying tribute to the legendry martyr Sardar Bhagat Singh, she said that Punjabis had proudly made 80 percent of contribution in Nation’s Freedom Struggle.
She said that she is lucky to have the proud moment to hoist the flag on this R Day at the district after the name of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Earlier she also paid a visit to Khatkar Kalan to pay rich tributes to the memorials of Sradar Bhagat Singh and his Father S. Kishan Singh.
During the R Day celebrations, she took salute from the march past led by DSP Harneel Singh and other contingents of Police, Homeguards, Ex-servicemen, NCC Cadets, scouts and girl guides. She also appreciated the colorful bonanza of cultural activities presented on the occasion by the school students.
Transport Minister also laid the foundation stone of the Concrete flooring project of Grain Market Banga and inaugurates the Government Senior Secondary Smart School Jadla.
R Day celebrations graced by local MLAs Angad Singh and Ch. Darshan Lal Mangupur and many other dignitaries too. DC Vinay Bublani and SSP Alka Meena accompanied the Chief Guest during the function.
