BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh has taken strong exception to the manner some of the Opposition parties have given a call to boycott the opening ceremony of the new Parliament building. and said that many Opposition parties led by The Congress have been always disrupting Parliament and sidestepping parliamentary etiquette.
Chugh blamed the opposition parties for repeatedly showing “scant regard for parliamentary procedures” for disrupting sessions, staging walkouts during crucial legislation, and demonstrating “an alarming lackadaisical attitude towards their Parliamentary duties.”
He said the Congress and AAP are responsible for violating many democratic norms and now by giving a call to boycott the inaugural function they have only reaffirmed their non-commitment to the democratic practices in the country.
During the Manmohan Singh government rule there had been an endless number of examples when the state Governors were excluded from functions for inauguration of Assembly buildings. “But now the Congress and AAP are raking up an undue controversy and making chepa politics out of the new Parliament beginning”, Chugh added.
