Akali Dal 1920 President Raviinder Singh, former Speaker Punjab Vidhan Sabha, while expressing deep concern over the ongoing dispute between Akal Takht Sahib and Takht Patna Sahib, said that the nation is already mired in sectarian issues and the situation can take a dangerous turn due to the confusion between the two.
According to the former Speaker, Akal Takht Sahib is the highest institution of the Sikh Panth. The dispute that has arisen in the past few days has brought the Sikh community down.
Senior Akali leader Ravinder Singh alleged that the Badal family is responsible for the current situation, which instead of obeying the orders of December 2, has turned its back on the Panth by disobeying them. Ravinder Singh has appealed to the Sikhs not to face those who are destroying the Sikh tradition.
Demanding that elections be held for the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, he said that the central and Punjab governments should show seriousness towards this so that the Sikh community can elect its representatives and work in a democratic manner and that anti-Sikh people should be expelled from the institutions.
