Channi, Randhawa & Sidhu coercing police officers to register false cases against top SAD leaders: Sukhbir Badal

Patiala, December 12, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, home minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and Pradesh Congress President Navjot Sidhu were coercing police officers to register false cases against him as well as former minister Bikram Singh Majithia.

Talking to newsmen after addressing massive rallies in favour of Harinderpal Singh Chandumarja in Sanaur and Jaspreet Singh Beeja in Payal, the SAD President said the Congress party had taken over the police department and was forcing police officers to act against senior SAD leaders. “Conscientious police officers have refused to obey these extra-constitutional commands and this is why two officers of the Bureau of Investigation – Arpit Shukla and Varinder Kumar have been changed in quick succession even as the incumbent Director – S K Asthana has proceeded on leave”

Asserting that the Punjab Congress was resorting to a vendetta exercise to divert attention from its failures, Mr Sukhbir Badal said attempts were being made to implicate Mr Bikram Majithia in false case days before the imposition of the model code of conduct. He said blatant illegalities were being committed with the chief minister and home minister directing senior police officers to proceed against Mr Bikram Majithia on trumped up charges. “We have earlier exposed a conspiracy to implicate me in a false case through a former party worker and this was proved when the said worker – Rajinder Kaur Meemsa made the same allegations we had referred to beforehand. Now an attempt is being made to register a false case against Mr Majithia in the same manner”.

Mr Badal said chief minister Charanjit Channi’s duty was towards resolving the grievances of the people besides fulfilling the promises made to Punjabis by the Congress party. “Instead of doing this, he is playing politics on the drugs issue after having failed miserably to contain the menace at all despite promising to do so in four weeks”.

Mr Badal also took the chief minister to task for raking up the land ceiling issue which had been settled decades back. He said a State government missive to revenue department officials to verify surplus land would only result in harassment of land owners besides encouraging corruption. “This is another example of ways and means by which the Congress government is trying to divert attention from its failures”.

At his entry to Sanaur assembly constituency, the SAD President was accorded a tumultuous reception by hundreds of motorcyclists, carrying SAD, SOI and BSP flags. Accompanied by Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra and Harpal Singh Chandumajra, the SAD president held a 10 kms long road show that culminated at Devigarh. Addressing the gathering, Mr Sukhbir Badal shared his vision for Punjab’s growth with people gathered in the shape of sea of humanity in the huge pandal.

Later, Mr Sukhbir Badal addressed an impressive gathering in Payal assembly constituency in favour of SAD-BSP candidate Jaspreet Singh Beeja. Responding to public demand, Mr Badal announced Congress mla Lakhbir Singh Lakha would be taken to task for looting and harassing the people of the area.

Speaking to the area residents, he said the SAD and BSP were a united force and that workers of both parties should put their best foot forward for the victory of the alliance. Senior leader Maheshinder Singh Grewal also spoke at the gathering in Payal.
