Chandigarh Administrator VP Singh Badnore reviews Project of Legacy Waste Bio-Mining at Dadumajra

Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh reviewed the project of Legacy Waste Bio-Mining at Dadumajra. Under this project about five lacs metric tonne of waste which is lying there for more than 20 years will be Bio-mined.

This waste is the major cause of sufferings for the residents of Dadumajra, as it emanates foul smell, homes and streets are filled with Leachate (very foul smelling liquid) especially during the rains. This result into spread of diseases, fly and dust nuisance.

Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore intimated the agency SMS, Ltd. of Nagpur to whom the entire project has been allotted at the cost of 33.00 Cr., that he will be closely monitoring the project so that it is completed well in time and the residents of Dadumajra are given much sought after relief. He also understood the methodology of carrying out the work, method of disposal of RDF, C&D waste and other wastes that will come out as a result of Bio-mining.

The Adviser instructed the agency to minimize the dust and smell when the project is under execution. The project was allotted and agreement signed with Chandigarh Smart City Limited on 21.10.2019 with a time period of 540 days. About 100 days will be lost in rains.

CEO, CSCL, Sh. K.K. Yadav explained that survey work has been completed and cleaning of site is in progress. The agency will start erecting the structure work from 06.11.2019 and processing of waste will be started in middle of December after the entire machinery is installed at site.

Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore directed the officers and agency to install additional process lines and ensure that the entire 25 Acres of legacy Waste land is reclaimed. Commissioner explained that about 1650 Mt. of waste will be processed daily.

The other officers present were Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Arun Gupta, Home Secretary, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Chandigarh Smart City Limited and Sh. N.P. Sharma, Chief General Manager, Chandigarh Smart City Limited.
