Chancellor Prof Jagbir Singh inaugurates ‘Hind Di Chadar Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sikh History Section’ at CUPB Library

Prof. Jagbir Singh, the new Chancellor of Central University of Punjab inaugurated ‘Hind Di Chadar Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur – Sikh History Section’ at University Library during his first visit to CUPB Ghudda Campus.

The idea of establishing the ‘Sikh History Section‘ dedicated to 400th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji is the brainchild of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, which is inaugurated by CUPB Chancellor Prof. Jagbir Singh.

On this occasion, a special programme was organized to welcome the Second Chancellor of University during which Prof. Jagdir Singh shared his vision, mission and philosophy with faculty & staff members of the university.

At the beginning of the programme, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, delivered welcome address. He mentioned that Prof. Jagbir Singh has immensely contributed towards Punjabi Literature & Culture during his long academic experience of more than 50 years.

He added that under the visionary leadership of Prof. Jagbir Singh, CUPB will take various steps to actualize the vision of re-establishing India as the Vishwa Guru.

While addressing the faculty & staff members, Chancellor Prof. Jagbir Singh mentioned that various archaeological surveys have confirmed that the Indian Civilization is the oldest civilization of the world and advocated the establishment of ‘Indic Studies Centre’ for enhancing our understanding of our Ancient Knowledge Systems. He shared the Indian Knowledge Traditions which is centred on ‘Braham’ has shaped our consciousness & taught us to live in harmony with nature.

He referred to various verses of Guru Nanak Bani and Ancient Scriptures to state that both are interlinked with each other. Prof. Jagbir Singh emphasized that to understand the real message of Guru Nanak Bani we need to understand Bharatiya Darshan which has given us cosmological, anthropological and sociological perspective.

He appreciated CUPB employees for doing commendable work in the field of education and encouraged them to become knowledge creators and innovators.

CUPB Registrar Sh. Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra expressed his gratitude towards CUPB Chancellor for sharing his words of wisdom with participants and thanked Vice Chancellor for their motivation to establish Sikh History Section at university.

He shared that under the patronage of Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, our university has written a letter to UGC to establish a separate chair on Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He delivered the formal vote of thanks towards the end of the programme.
