Guriqbal Singh, DSP Mohali was Chief Guest of the occasion; S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Jhanjeri lighted sacred Lohri bonfire with staff and students.
Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri celebrated Lohri 2021 with great zeal and enthusiasm. The event marked to be the first on-campus event after the pandemic, but COVID guidelines were very well taken care of! The seating arrangements were done keeping in mind social distancing norms and the premises was sanitised properly.
Sh. Guriqbal Singh, DSP, SAS Nagar, Punjab was the honourable Chief Guest of the occasion and the theme of the event was Road Safety, due to the Road Safety Week onboard. President of the college, Dhaliwal presented a memento to the chief guest while Dr. GG Sastry proposed a vote of thanks.
The function kick-started with the Bhangra and was followed by singing performances, theme-based skits and faculty ramp walk. Some of the participants dedicated their performances to the ‘save girl child’ movement and ongoing farmers’ protest.
President of CGC Jhanjeri – S. Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal along with Chief Guest – Guriqbal Singh, DSP Mohali, and staff and management of college lit the sacred bonfire. Dhaliwal then conveyed his festive wishes to all the students and staff members. Sh. Guriqbal Singh, in his address, enlightened the youth about road safety and the need of respecting traffic rules and regulations.
Entire staff and students were beautifully dressed up in traditional Punjabi dresses for the celebration. All teachers and students enjoyed the festive spirit of the occasion.
