Centre trying to destroy backbone of Punjab’s economy: Sadhu Singh Dharamsot

Punjab Minister for Forests, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs Sadhu Singh Dharamsot inaugurated procurement of wheat at Bhadson today. He also attended the bid process for the procurement of wheat by Markfed of farmer Baldeep Singh of village Ghundar at the sub-yard of Bhangu Rice Mill Sakrali.

Welcoming the withdrawal of its ongoing strike by the Arhtiyas in Punjab on this occasion, Mr. Dharamsot said that the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has been safeguarding the interests of the Arhtiyas and the farmers but it was unfortunate that the BJP government at the Center was destroying the mutual relationship between the farmers and the Arhtiyas who are driving the the economy of Punjab as its backbone.

Interacting with the media reporters, Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was fully committed to protect the interests of all sections of the people of Punjab including farmers, Arhtiyas and Labourers.

He said that Union government was on the verge of destroying Punjab but as long as Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was heading the state, he would not allow this to happen.

Mr. Dharamsot said that it was a record that during the tenure of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab, though it was in 2002-2007 and this time too, the farmers were given priority so that they couldn’t feel harrassed in Mandis to sell their crop.

He said that this time also, all the arrangements for the procurement of wheat in the mandis have been completed and vaccination arrangements have also been made for the prevention ot farmers and other stakeholders amid COVID-19 pandemic.

SDM Kala Ram Kansal, Paramjit Singh Khatra, Chairman, Market Committee, Vice Chairman Makhan Singh Tohra, Nagar Panchayat President Chunni Lal, Secretary Market Committee Ashwani Kumar, Ravinder Singh Mungo, Shakti Kumar, Pargat Singh Bhari and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
