CBI closure report: AAP to bare the ‘real’ face of the Badals in Vidhan Sabha: Harpal Singh Cheema

Chandigarh, July 27, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Senior of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema, said that his party would expose the ‘real’ face of the Badals on the issue of CBI’s closure report, during the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session. It would also bring on board the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who had joined hands to protect the Badals.

Interacting with media persons in Chandigarh on Saturday, Cheema said that the government was running away from its the core issues concerning Punjab and its people, which was why the session was restricted to a mere two sittings, stating that the AAP would take up the issue of CBI closure report with the seriousness it merited.

He added that other issues of import that the party was likely to raise on the floor of the House, included unemployment, drugs, AIDS/ HIV, farmers’ loans and agrarian crises, ‘Dalits’ and other public-centric issues.

Referring to the closure report by the CBI, Cheema said it had been 4 long years when the incident of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and the firing incident at Behbal Kalan-Kotkapura had happened but nothing had come out of the investigations even as 4 agencies (headed by IPS Sahota, RSS Khatra, the CBI, the SIT- led by Kanwar Vijay Partap Singh) changed hands to bring the real culprits to justice.

He alleged that the investigating teams had yet to ascertain who were behind the firing incidents at Behbal Kalan-Kotakpura and desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, he said.

The AAP leader further said that it was beyond the common man’s ken that the Modi government and union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal were not privy to the unsavory goings-on before the submission of the closure report, saying that the Badals were resorting to such cheap gimmicks to hide their alleged connivance in the incidents.

He said people of the state were well aware of their shedding crocodile tears to gain public sympathy.

Cheema said that while AAP was strongly opposed to stringent punishment to the innocent, the real culprits should not go scot free howsoever high and mighty he or she might be. Cheema also accused the government in the saddle of eliminating material evidences crucial to the cases. The ‘murder’ of Dera Sacha Sauda follower, Mohinder Pal Bittu in Nabha Jail and the mysterious death of Gurpinder, a heroin smuggler, in Amritsar, in custody were the latest instances to prove the point.
