Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK & LPU donated Laptops to NGOs

Jalandhar, June 21, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, Lovely Professional University in collaboration with Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK donated 14 laptops to four NGOs. The NGOs that were benefitted in this benevolent gesture were Spinal Cord Injury Association, Saksham, Gyandeep Teaching Project, and Aagaz. All these NGOs have taken different humane initiatives in the direction of serving the needy people. The SCIA is a step towards creating a safe, comfortable and happy home for wheelchair-borne persons and Saksham empowers people with blindness. Gyandeep Teaching Project, on the other hand, is an initiative of LPU-NSS that promotes education in slums of Jalandhar and in the adopted villages of LPU-NSS.

This kind service was performed by both the universities while a group of 13 students and teachers from Cardiff Metropolitan University were at LPU under the Student Exchange Programme. The students belonged to three disciplines, namely Food Technology, Food Safety and Public Environmental Health. The faculty accompanying them were Mr Henry Dawson and Dr James Blaxland, both being specialists and researchers in their respective fields. All of them were at LPU for two weeks to learn and experience the Indian pedagogy and culture.

Visiting UK students were immensely happy to be a part of this initiative undertaken by LPU along with their own university. One of the students, Marissa Milton shared: “At LPU, I have gained novel academic and cultural knowledge. I have also learned the importance of giving back to society and helping those who need our support.” Sam Evans also expressed his excitement by sharing that he was pleasantly surprised to witness how LPU is not only a hub of excellent education but is also devotedly involved in fulfilling its duties towards the society.

On this occasion, LPU Additional Director Aman Mittal shared: “LPU has been working with more than 200 universities across the globe. This is the first time that we have collaborated with a partner university to perform CSR activities. We are also in talks with them to take this initiative on a larger level and make it an annual activity.”
