Captain Amarinder’s Mdprofiled Administration – by TS Chawla

Just two months more for Captain Amarinder Singh to complete three years span of rule as a Chief Minister of Punjab; it is a midprofiled administration owing to insufficient funds with the state, however, he braved constraints mainly funds but peddled the state with a success so far.

Opportunities were available for Captain Amarinder Singh to achieve more as there is no pressure of any opposition from any side. Quality and quantity of existence of SAD (Badals) is shrinking day by day with the quitting of party by the stalwarts like Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa MP, Rajya Sabha; his son Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Ex-Finance Minister; and already a former influential minister Manpreet Singh Badal, who is with Congress now.

As far as AAP is concerned, though it is next to Congress in number, it is not enjoying any hold in the state as the present State AAP President Harpal Singh Cheema has failed to cash any mileage in Punjab.

The two top brass Congressmen Partap Singh Bajwa, Ex-Congress Party President and Navjot Singh Sidhu, Ex-Minister, Punjab, have kept Punjab Chief Minister on toes for sometime. Navjot Singh Sidhu was suddenly thrown back when he excitedly behaved with his cricketer friend Imran Khan at his swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister of Pakistan, where he embraced Pak Army Chief General Bajwa also.

Embracing of General Bajwa by Navjot sparked inextinguishable fire against him in India and overlappings of statements by the central leaders and state leaders poured in asking Amarinder to throw Sidhu out, any way it is a lengthy story and ultimately Sidhu was thrashed out of Amarinder’s ministry technically.

No doubt, Navjot Singh Sidhu achieved enormously in the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor which will be a memory for the future and Sidhu was also active in the celebration of the 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

Partap Singh Bajwa, who is at dagger’s drawn with Captain Amarinder Singh held very prestigious position in the state as the Chief of Congress party and enjoyed the support of some Congress High Command people but he could not succeed in showing achievements for the Congress. Amarinder replaced him and threw him aside. He is silent under the instructions of High Command but he continues showing his presence in the media.

Administration by Captain Amarinder Singh was never an inspiration to the general public of the state due to the lack of total accessibility for the common man. Captain Amarinder’s habit of liking the heavy weights in the field of industry and politics remains, and jumbo team of advisors he appointed for dealing with the common man and other affairs proved void.

Accountability in a democratic set up is judged by the formula how the janta speaks about the ruler and Amarinder has not improved his old habit of discarding the janta and there are a few in the ministry also who complain about Chief Minister’s inaccessibility but they talk in private in veiled tone and with regard to, it has appeared in the media also.

No doubt, he is taking care of his legislators to take them along for his survival and furtherance also. I believe that people who voted for you to bring you in power, you must return them with some fine gesture; a poor voter feels elated when he meets his leader to get any complaint adressed.

Still two precious years are lying with Captain to accomplish his duty, he should hold darbar of public in every district and communicate with the people and know what his advisors have done so far. This way Captain will ensure his personal victory for the next election and his esteemed party also.

All the basic fundamentals are equal for every citizen, in a democracy every voter is your friend, do not annoy him. If anybody asks a leader why he takes the right for getting the vote, it is a two-way attraction. In any open darbar, a man can speak freely and fearlessly.

This is ripe time for the Chief Minister to remedy the grievances of the poor rural folk to win them and also the educational and health care system in the rural areas, which is existing by name only, should be developed up to their satisfaction. Old school buildings should be replaced with the new modern outlook and seasoned teachers be shifted there to enhance the standards of education in villages.

Other side, health care system can be improved by properly monitoring on the doctors’ presence who are hardly available there and proper machines be fitted to diagnose and treat the villagers; it is very important that availability of doctors be strictly viewed. These two – education and health care – are the essential needs which must be focused.
