Capt Amarinder mourns passing away of veteran Journalist Surinder Awasthi

The Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday condoled the sad demise of veteran journalist and former State Information Commissioner Surinder Awasthi (70), who passed away after a brief illness this morning at PGI where he was undergoing treatment. He is survived by his wife, and two daughters.

In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described Surinder Awasthi, who also served with The Times of India, as an eminent journalist and a fine human being with the qualities of head and heart who always championed the cause of freedom of press.

A void has been created with the passing away of Surinder Awasthi in Media fraternity, which is difficult to be filled, Captain Amarinder Singh added.

Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, the Chief Minister also prayed to the Almighty to give courage to them to bear this irreparable loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

Meanwhile, CM’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral also mourned the passing away of Surinder Awasthi, who would be remembered forever for his contribution in the field of journalism.
