Capt Amarinder govt. to facilitate over 2 lakh jobs with state-wide Job Melas next month

Chandigarh, August 8, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Captain Amarinder Singh government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ programme is set to get a major boost with a series of job melas scheduled to be held next month, culminating in the Chief Minister personally handing over job letters to the selected candidates at a mega job fair.

Captain Amarinder will hand over the appointment letters at a function at Ropar on October 5, according to an official spokesperson. This will be preceded by job melas at 75 venues across the state, from September 9 to 30, with more than 2 lakh jobs on the offer in the private sector.

The spokesperson said the Department of Employment Generation had identified over 2 lakh job openings across a wide spectrum of avenues, which would be uploaded soon on the department’s official website https://pbemployment.punjab.gov.in/. Unemployed youth can log on to the site for further details and application process.

More than 45,000 job opportunities have been earmarked in Ludhiana, followed by Bathinda with 13558, and 12000 each in Jalandhar, Mohali, Patiala and Amritsar districts.

The list of vacancies has been prepared by the Department of Employment Generation after receiving inputs from all Deputy Commissioners, who have been holding wide-ranging discussions with industrial and business houses, private firms, malls and local job providers, to ascertain number and profile of job posts vacant.

This follows the directives of the Chief Minister to all the concerned departments to synergize their efforts for ensuring accelerated job opportunities to all the employable youth in Punjab. He had also ordered further scaling up of measures to augment job and entrepreneurship ventures to facilitate the jobless youth.

The Chief Minister has lauded the efforts of the Employment Generation & Training Department for facilitating more than 9 lakh youth in getting self or wage employment (at the rate of more than a 1000 employments/day), including liaising with the banks for arranging loans to fund their self-employed ventures. The District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprises (DBEEs) in all districts have become the nodal centres for the job seekers.

It may be recalled that nearly 55,000 jobs in the private sector were given to the youth during the various job fairs held across the state in February 2019.
