By diverting MPLAD funds to Sanaur, Chandumajra proved who is outsider: Tewari

Balachaur (Nawanshahr), April 19, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Congress candidate from Sri Anandpur Sahib parliamentary constituency Manish Tewari today said that the sitting MP and the Akali candidate Prem Singh Chandumajra had proved it himself as who was an outsider by diverting his MPLAD funds to Sanaur, an assembly segment represented by his son and falling in Patiala parliamentary constituency, which was illegal and against the parliamentary guidelines.

He said, the matter will be investigated and whatever violations have been committed, responsibility will be fixed for it.

Interacting with reporters after addressing a well-attended workers meeting organized by local MLA Chaudhary Darshan Lal here today, Tewari said, the very fact that Chandumajra was resorting to the “outsider” rant against him proved that he had no achievements to his credit to show to the people.

Tewari said, he was born and brought up in Chandigarh, which is surrounded on three sides by Anandpur Sahab constituency while Chandumajra was himself from Patiala who had contested form constituencies like Patiala, Moga, Lehra Gagga and now Anandpur Sahib.

Earlier, addressing the workers, Tewari said, he had come here with a positive agenda and vision for the development of the area. He said, he was quite familiar with the problems of the area and will ensure that these are addressed at the earliest. He said, the Punjab government led by Capt Amarinder Singh has already envisaged developing this areas as an industrial hub right from Mohali to Balachaur and Banga.

He regretted that Chandumajra had wasted precious five years when he had his own alliance government at the centre and for three years his own party’s government, till 2017, in the state. “I don’t want to go into his acts of omission and commission as people will judge him for that, but what I plan and promise, I will deliver to the last word”, he promised.

Tewari said, he was surprised that even after 70 years of independence Balachaur area was still not connected with rail-link. “If we can take the rail link to Kashmir, there is no reason why it cannot be done in Balachaur, we only need the will and sincere intentions”, he said while promising that he will ensure that the area gets connected with the train within next five years.

Besides, rail-link, he added, unemployment was a serious problem in the area. HE said, he knew it was a ‘kandi-belt’ and agriculture was not a very profitable proposition. We will set up industrial zone as the land here is less costly as compared to other places. “I will take up the issue with the Chief Minister who is already committed to industrialise the area”, he said.

Addressing the meeting, Chaudhary Darshan Lal promised that Balachaur will give the largest lead to Tewari. He said, people are feeling proud that they will be sending to the parliament a leader who is not known just across the state, but across the country.
