Amritsar, July 5, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)
In a chilling episode of ongoing gang rivalry in Punjab, Jugraj Singh, the younger brother of slain gangster Jagrup Rupa—accused in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case—was shot dead in broad daylight near Gurdwara Baba Buddha Sahib in Chananke village, Amritsar.
According to officials, three motorcycle-borne assailants executed the ambush. Two of them opened fire while the third kept the bike ready for a quick escape. Despite his attempt to flee, Jugraj was struck by three bullets and died instantly. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed near the Gurdwara, aiding ongoing investigations.
In an unverified social media post, gangster Dony Ball, associated with the Devinder Bambiha gang, claimed responsibility for the attack.
He claimed that besides him, Mohabbat Randhawa and Kaushal Chaudhary were responsible for getting Jugraj killed. He alleged that Jugraj had conducted surveillance on behalf of a rival gang involved in the May 26 killing of Gora Bariyar at a petrol pump in Ghuman village. The post warned that further retaliatory actions may follow.
Jugraj’s brother, Jagrup Rupa, was killed in a police encounter on July 20, 2022, nearly two months after Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was murdered in May 2022.
This is not the first time the Bambiha gang has been involved in revenge-driven violence. On June 27, gang shooters killed Harjit Kaur, mother of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, and his cousin Navkiran Singh in Batala. At that time, the gang claimed their target was Navkiran, who allegedly managed Bhagwanpuria’s operations in his absence. Bhagwanpuria was recently relocated to Silchar Jail in Assam.
A grieving family member shared that Jugraj, aged around 30, had recently married in February 2025, adding a tragic layer to the crime.
The Amritsar Rural Police have registered a case of murder, and a probe is underway. SSP Maninder Singh assured the public that authorities are actively pursuing leads and that further details will be disclosed soon.
This latest incident underscores the persistent threat posed by organized criminal gangs in Punjab and raises urgent questions about public safety, intelligence surveillance, and inter-gang vendettas.
