Controversial godman Brahmrishi Kumar Swami has tendered apology to SGPC and Sikh community at large for his controversial full page advertisement carried on the front page of a newspaper.
Representatives of Kumar Swami submitted the apology by the godman during the meeting of the Executive Committee of the SGPC here.
Kumar Swami had inserted a full page advertisement in a newspaper yesterday wherein he had shown disrespect to Sri Guru Granth Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh ji and Sikh principles.
Reacting sharply and strongly over the controversial godman’s this act, SGPC had said that it would initiate legal action against Kumar Swami for hurting the sentiments of Sikhs. The SGPC had also filed a complaint against Kumar Swami with the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, seeking action against him.
Representatives of Kumar Swami handed over the letter of apology by the godman to the SGPC chief and other senior office-bearers for having hurt the religious sentiments of the community.
The delegation carrying the letter of apology included Sushil Verma – the General Secretary of Lakshmi Narayan Dham, Delhi, Senior BJP leader and former Health Minister Baldev Raj Chawla, Bipin Anand – the Amritsar Convener of Lakshmi Narayan Dham and Robin Talwar.
SGPC Chief Gobind Singh Longowal said that representatives of Kumar Swami after handing over the letter of apology have assured the SGPC that the mistake would not be repeated in future.
