Brahm Mohindra virtually dedicates slew of Infra Projects, lauds Amarinder’s visionary & dynamic leadership

In a major boost to infrastructure development across the state, Local Government Minister Brahm Mohindra on Thursday dedicated a slew of projects to the people besides laying foundation stones of some other significant projects to put Punjab on the high growth trajectory.

Lauding the visionary and dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for accelerating the pace of development across the state through such projects, Brahm Mohindra said that the Chief Minister really felt the pulse of people and promptly responded to their needs.

The Local Government Minister asserted that Captain Amarinder Singh is our Captain and would continue to guide us in pursuit of further excellence in all-round progress to achieve new heights of glory.

Notably, several Cabinet Ministers and MLAs simultaneously joined the event through video conferencing from their respective locations.

During a virtual program, Brahm Mohindra dedicated 151 Health & Wellness centres to facilitate citizens with best healthcare facilities besides inaugurated Rs.93 crore state-of-the-art District Administrative Complex at Amritsar, equipped with ultra modern facilities.

Local Government Minister also digitally laid foundation stones of four tehsil complexes each at a cost of Rs 5 crore at Malerkotla, Bhawanigarh and Ahmedgarh in Sangrur district and Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib district besides dedicating Sub Tehsil at Sham Chaurasi in Hoshiarpur district at an outlay of Rs 1 crore.

Giving a boost to policing infrastructure, Brahm Mohindra also dedicated nine new complexes of police stations at Sadar Patiala, Malaud, Beas, Zira, Bilga, Basti Bawa Khel, Sidhwan Bet, Bahavwala and City Ahmedgarh.

Speaking on the occasion, Revenue & Rehabilitation Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar mentioned that several people friendly initiatives like computerization of revenue records have been undertaken by the Revenue department.

He said that the newly inaugurated DAC complex in holy city of Amritsar with architectural grandeur would seamlessly cater to the needs of people related to several government departments within one building thus saving their time and energy. He also mentioned that two more tehsil complexes with a cost of Rs.12 crore at Rampuraphul and Ajnala would be completed soon.

On the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that after setting up the Health and Wellness Centers in the rural areas, 700 more such centers would also be established in the urban sector especially in slum areas.

He also stated that 428 out of 2950 sub-centers of the department are currently functioning from the Primary Health Centers (PHC) buildings where no Community Health Officers have been posted at present and now the department has decided to shift these sub-centers to villages with large population and depute Community Health Officers so as to provide hassle free health facilities to people in large number.

He further said that the Covid-19 vaccination would also be provided at all the Health and Wellness Centers from April 1 in order to achieve the goal to make Punjab Covid free.

In her opening remarks, Chief Secretary Vini Mahajan briefly updated about these infrastructure projects of Police, Health and Revenue to bring far more efficiency in the functioning of these departments. She also appreciated the efforts of all departments to fight a relentless battle against Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier, the DGP-cum-MD Punjab Police Housing Corporation MK Tiwari apprised that the Corporation had got a loan to the tune of Rs.150 crore from HUDCO for construction of 74 new Police Stations and 10 Offices of the Punjab Bureau of Investigation and all these buildings would be completed by November 2021.

On the occasion, President Youth Congress Brinder Singh Dhillon emphasized the need for timely renovation/repair of the old government office buildings to ensure the safety of employees adding he said the government should also accord priority to fill the vacancies in government offices of various departments to ensure its efficacious functioning and proper delivery of public services.
