SAS Nagar, February 10, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

In a rare goodwill gesture to address the stray cattle menace, Mr. Brahm Mohindra, Local Bodies Minister sanctioned Rs. One crore immediately as soon as the proposal from the Municipal Corporation SAS Nagar received in his office. This amount would be used to extend and upgrade the existing Gaushala at village Magra near Lalruin SAS district.

Disclosing this an official spokesperson of the Local Bodies department said that a special sitting of the Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar was held to discuss the socio-economic danger posed by the stray cattle in the district.

The house discussed various way outs to check the stray cattle menace and it was observed that biggest problem being faced by the SAS Nagar is the shortage of adequate space to house these stray cattle. It was apprised by the members of the house that the only one Gaushala in SAS Nagar was full to its capacity and no more stray cattle could be housed therein.

The spokesperson said that the house passed a resolution to extend the existing Gaushala at village Magra, near Lalru in SAS Nagar. It was observed that a big chuck of land adjacent to this Gaushala was earmarked by the Punjab Government for setting up new Gaushala. He said that house passed resolution that the existing Gaushala at village Magra be extended over the vacant space earmarked for new Gaushala.

The house made an estimate of Rs. One crore required to extend the Gaushala over the vacant space. The resolution of the house was forwarded to Mr. Brahm Mohindra, Local Bodies Minister for financial sanction. The Local Bodies Minister took the matter urgently and accord the financial sanction of Rs.1 crore immediately to upgrade and extend the existing Gaushalal at village Magra, district SAS Nagar.
