The Local Bodies Minister Brahm Mohindra has asked for preparation of a comprehensive report for the development of Naya Gaon area in the outskirts of Chandigarh.
The minister held a high level meeting in this regard at the instance of Sri Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari which was attended among others by Additional Chief Secretary Local Bodies Sanjay Kumar, former minister Jagmohan Singh Kang, local MLA Kanwar Sandhu and Ravinderpal Pali, Chairman Punjab Agro.
Tewari brought to the notice of the minister that for a prolonged time Naya Gaon area had remained ignored and unattended and it lacked various civic amenities. The meeting was primarily about providing the basic amenities like water supply, sewerage and the registry of land.
Mr Mohindra issued immediate instructions to initiate the process for the development of area. He called upon the officers to provide him a detailed and comprehensive report in a time bound manner. “Whatever needs to be done will be done at top priority in a time bound manner”, the minister assured Tewari, who has been pursuing the matter for a long time.
Tewari thanked the minister, saying it was after a long time that anyone had taken the issue of the development of Naya Gao so seriously. He hoped that all the basic amenities will be provided to the people at the earliest.
