BJP is anti-women party, says AAP

New Delhi, Sep 20, 2019-

The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday called the BJP “anti-women” a day after saffron party’s Mehrauli district president Azad Singh slapped his wife, an ex-south Delhi mayor, at the Delhi party office.

“The incident which took place at the BJP party office brought out the reality of BJP. Everyone knows the BJP is an anti-women party because they have people like Swami Chinmayanand, who is accused of rape. The BJP also has MLAs like Kuldeep Singh Sengar who is also accused of rape,” said AAP leader Atishi.

She also said that in Delhi, women safety is a major issue and Delhi is also known as rape capital.

“In Delhi, the responsibility to ensure the safety of women is with the Delhi Police which is under the Home Ministry of the BJP-led Center. If the BJP cannot ensure the safety of a woman inside the party office, how can it ensure the safety of women of Delhi?” asked Atishi.

She said the woman who was slapped was a senior BJP leader and ex-mayor.

“She is an empowered woman and was elected by the people of Delhi. She is also the chief of Delhi BJP’s ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ unit. When a woman like her is not safe in the BJP office, then how will the BJP-led Centre ensure the safety of women of Delhi? In Delhi, the BJP has only one responsibility which is maintaining law and order where they have failed miserably,” said Atishi.

She said that it would be clear to everyone after this incident that BJP is unable to assure the safety of Delhi’s women and people should not depend on them because BJP is “an anti-women party”.

Echoing Atishi, senior AAP leader Rakhi Birla said, “In 2014 BJP raised the slogan of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ but in reality, nothing happened. “Slogan will not work, the BJP should ensure the safety of women on the ground too.”  (Agency)
