BJP has shown Akalis their true place by declining alliance in Delhi polls: Congress

Chandigarh, January 20, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

“The so called close alliance of SAD-BJP has come quite close to being consigned to the dustbin of the history as the saffron party has put akalis in their place by declining an alliance with them by not giving them even a single seat for the upcoming Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections.”

Expressing these views here today in a joint press communique, the Cabinet Minister and Senior leader of the Punjab Congress S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MP Muhammad Sadique, MLAs Mr. Darshan Singh Brar, Mr. Pargat Singh, Mr. Nathu Ram, Mr. Kulbir Singh Zira, Mr. Pritam Singh Kotbhai, Mr. Barindermeet Singh Pahra, Mr. Fatehjung Singh Bajwa, Mr. Balwinder Singh Ladi and Mr. Avtar Singh Henry Junior said that the akalis are spreading white lies regarding their stand about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said that SAD is opposed to the CAA while the party supported the same in the parliament and voted against the anti-CAA resolution brought by the Congress Government in Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Whereas the actual reason was that the SAD rebels led by Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa forced akalis to step back from contesting the polls and it’s also a fact that had akalis gone for the polls they would have fielded candidates against the BJP which would have meant sacking of Harsimrat Badal from the Union Cabinet.

They further added that the saffron party has also demonstrated clearly that it holds scant regard for the akalis as was clear earlier also when it refused an alliance with them in Haryana. Lashing out at Sukhbir – Majithia combine for making Akali Dal, ‘Khali Dal’, the Congress leaders elaborated that the way Taksali leaders were humiliated, clearly showed that the Sukhbir and Majithia’s axis of evil has stiffled all the democratic voices.
