BJP, Congress expert at triggering riots: Bhagwant Mann

Delhi / Chandigarh, March 12, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state unit president and parliamentarian Bhagwant Mann, on Thursday mounted a frontal attack on the BJP and the Congress, on the issue of Delhi riots in the Lok Sabha. Later he interacted with media persons outside the House.

Speaking during the ongoing Lok Sabha session, Mann said that the ruling BJP leaders were indulging in a slugfest highlighting the riots that took place during the latter’s regime, saying it was just a clever ploy to mislead the people and divert their attention from the core issues and concerns, adding that nothing was hidden from the people of the country.

The AAP leader said that whether the riots were triggered by the Congress or the BJP only people were shoved into the cockpit of death and destruction. He questioned: “When the motor-mouth BJP leaders were spitting communal fire in the run up to the Delhi assembly elections, where was the Delhi Police?

Mann said alleged that when the 1984 Sikh riots happening, the police was last to arrive at the scene, saying that had the police had reached the spot and handled the case with the seriousness it merited, several innocent lives and properties of the Hindus, Sikhs and others could have been protected from perishing the raging flames.

Mann said that during the Delhi elections, while the AAP led its poll campaign over people-centric issues, like health, education, cheaper water and power, the BJP leaders were dwelling on the politics of hatred and divide, reducing it to a match between India and Pakistan and so on.

Mann said that the Home Minister Amit Shah and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who were among the star campaigners, likened Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to a terrorist, while Kejriwal focused on developmental agenda over which the people of Delhi gave him a massive mandate, by rejecting the politics of hatred and communal divide, he said.
