BJP attacks Punjab CM on CAB; Tarun Chugh says Capt Amarinder pleasing Gandhis, ignoring Sikhs, Hindus

Chandigarh, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Bharatiya Janata Party today lashed at Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for his statement criticizing Citizen Amendment Bill and his announcement not to implement the bill in Congress governed state.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the party, said Amarinder’s statement was aimed to please the Gandhis at the cost of the sentiments of Sikhs and Hindus who were victimized, tortutred, shamed and were forced to live like third class citizens in the neighbouring countries.

“The Congress and its allies are once again playing the politics of vote bank,” Chugh said adding that it was highly surprising and unfortunate that Capt Amarinder Singh, who at times projects himself as champion of Sikh rights, was opposing the bill brought by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government to safeguard the interests of lakhs of Sikhs, Hindus, Parsis, Jainis & Bodhis who had been denied to live a life of dignity by the respective governments and the majorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

“It is sad that Amarinder has chosen to ignore the plight of Sikhs and Hindus who had been suffering since long. It is strange to see Capt Amarinder conveniently forgetting the sufferings of young Sikh and Hindu girls and their families even as everyone knows how the girls were targeted, victimized and forced to convert against their wishes,” he said.

The opposition of CAB by Capt Amarinder would go down in the history, Chugh said reminding the Chief Minister that he was doing so in the year the Sikh Community was celebrating 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak.

“By announcing not to implement the amended act in Punjab, Amarinder stands exposed. This means that his government would be denying the relief to lakhs of Sikhs and Hindus,” he said.

Chugh slammed Congress for denying citizenship rights to lakhs of refugees who had over the years so many times requested the successive Congress and Congress-led governments to give them a right to be citizen of India so that they can lead a life of dignity.

“The Congress only made hollow promises to the refugees but never took their demands seriously,” he said adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah dared to do what Congress-; did not think of doing.
