Bharatiya Janata Party, Capt Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Lok Congress, and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa-led Shiromani Akali Dal Sanyukt have finalized seat-sharing formula of the alliance.
Divulging details, BJP Punjab General Secretary Subhash Sharma said, the formula has been finalized keeping in mind the winnability factor of the parties and the candidates.
THE SEAT-SHARING WOULD BE AS UNDER:
Bharatiya Janta Party – 65 seats
Punjab Lok Congress – 38 seats
Akali Dal Sanyukt – 14 seats
Asked about the CM face of the alliance, Sharma said it would not project any leader. He said, be it parliamentary elections or assembly elections in any state, BJP always goes to polls projecting the face of its leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the decision about Chief Minister is taken after the polls.
It may be recalled that BJP has already announced 35 candidates, while Akali Dal Sanyukt has announced 13 of 14 seats it would be contesting. Capt Amarinder is also going to announce his candidates on Sunday. Amarinder has already made it clear that he would be contesting the election from Patiala seat.
